Canny pricing explained: where Free ends and Pro begins

Canny sells a feedback board in three plans: Free, Pro and Business. This page reads Canny's own pricing page and its billing help article on 2026-10-11, in US dollars, and keeps the monthly and yearly figures apart.

The part that surprises people is the unit. Canny does not charge per seat. It charges by tracked users, meaning anyone associated with feedback, and the Pro price climbs in steps as that number grows. A board with a few engaged customers can stay free for a long time, while a board with a busy public audience reaches Pro quickly.

We also make a pay-once alternative, so keep that bias in mind. We say below who should stay on Canny and who needs its higher plans, including the things our product does not do.

What Canny does well

A Free plan that is not a trial

Free has no expiry on Canny's page and includes unlimited feedback and boards, an API with webhooks, a changelog and private boards. Canny says most teams new to it find the Free tracked-user cap enough to start, and a small B2B product can stay there for months.

Integrations the pay-once option lacks

Pro lists Jira, ClickUp, Linear, Asana, GitHub and Azure DevOps, plus Zapier and Segment. If a request must become a ticket in your tracker without anyone copying it over, Canny does that and our license does not.

Autopilot collects feedback for you

Canny's Autopilot reads support and sales conversations from tools like Intercom, Zendesk, Freshdesk and Gong, finds feedback and merges duplicates. It is listed on all three plans. Ours has no AI; posts come from people writing on the board.

Enterprise controls on Business

SSO, custom admin roles, invoice payment, a security review and SOC 2 (listed on Pro and Business) are real requirements for larger companies. Ours has no SSO, so a buyer who needs it should talk to Canny.

The unit Canny charges by: tracked users

A tracked user, in Canny's words, is any user associated with feedback. The FAQ adds that this means someone who created a post, voted or commented, whether they did it themselves, an admin did it for them, or Autopilot did. Someone who only reads your board is not counted.

Canny suggests that for a B2B software company, roughly one to five percent of total users become tracked users, depending on how hard you push for feedback. That is Canny's estimate, not ours, but it helps you guess which step you will land on. A product with a large account base might track only a small slice of it.

Because the cap counts people and not seats, adding a manager costs nothing extra on its own. Free includes five managers and Pro includes ten, with unlimited contributors on every plan.

Free: what you get and where it stops

Free costs nothing and covers twenty-five tracked users with unlimited feedback and boards. The comparison table also ticks the changelog, private boards, the API and webhooks, Autopilot feedback discovery and deduplication, and feedback capture and notification integrations on Free.

The ticks stop at the features teams usually want next. Custom domains, custom statuses, internal comments, advanced portal privacy, user segmentation and automation rules all start on Pro. If none of those matter to you and your tracked-user count stays low, there is no reason to leave.

Canny also asks you to complete a few unlock steps before the Free plan works, to keep spammers out, and says support will help you if you get stuck.

Pro: the monthly versus yearly numbers

Canny's help article lists the Pro ladder with two columns, labelled Pro Monthly and Pro Annual (per month). At the first step of one hundred tracked users the figures are $99 and $79. Yearly billing is therefore $79 times twelve, which is $948 charged for the year, against $1,188 for twelve months billed monthly. The pricing page itself shows only the yearly figure and the line that paying a year upfront saves up to twenty percent.

The ladder climbs fast: two hundred tracked users is $161 monthly or $129 yearly, five hundred is $349 or $279, and one thousand is $661 or $529. At five thousand it is $1,349 or $1,079. Above that you ask Canny for a Business quote.

Canny lets you set a monthly spend limit. With it, Canny stops tracking feedback from new users once the limit is reached. Without it, you are moved up to the next step automatically and charged a prorated amount.

Business: custom pricing and what it unlocks

Business shows Custom, billed yearly, and starts at five thousand tracked users. On top of Pro it lists Okta, OIDC, Entra ID and OneLogin sign-in, custom admin roles, pay by invoice and a security review. Branding removal, email whitelabel and CRM integrations carry a dollar-sign mark in that column.

We cannot give a price because Canny does not publish one. If a security review or single sign-on is a hard requirement at your company, this is the plan, and you should ask Canny directly.

Three-year cost next to a pay-once license

Take the first Pro step, one hundred tracked users. Yearly billing costs $948 in year one, $1,896 over two years and $2,844 over three. Monthly billing costs $1,188, $2,376 and $3,564, if the price never changes, which Canny can change.

Our Solo plan is $39 once and our Pro plan is $79 once. Solo covers one project, two admins and two thousand notification emails a month, and Pro covers unlimited projects, five admins and ten thousand emails a month. Solo costs less than the first month of Canny Pro on monthly billing. Both plans include a custom domain per project and a public board with no vendor branding.

Those prices are not a like-for-like swap. They buy a smaller product, and the sections below say where.

Who should stay, who should pay Canny, who can go pay-once

Stay on Canny Free if you are under the twenty-five tracked-user cap and do not need a custom domain, statuses of your own or internal comments. Do not pay for a feedback board you are not outgrowing.

Pay for Canny Pro or Business if you need ticket integrations with Jira, Linear or similar, Zapier, user segmentation, SSO, SOC 2, or Autopilot reading your support inbox. We have none of these, and no plan of ours changes that.

FigVote fits a small product that wants a public board, roadmap and changelog on its own domain, with votes, comments, moderation, merging of duplicates and webhooks, and that would rather pay once than watch a monthly ladder climb with its audience. Canny's CSV and JSON exports can be imported into it, with votes arriving as an earlier-votes count rather than named voters.

FAQ

How much is Canny Pro per month?

At the first step of one hundred tracked users, Canny's billing help article lists $99 a month on monthly billing and $79 a month on yearly billing, which is $948 charged for the year. The price climbs with the tracked-user step.

Is Canny free?

Yes. Canny's Free plan costs $0 and allows twenty-five tracked users with unlimited feedback and boards. A tracked user is any user associated with feedback, whether by posting, voting or commenting.

Does Canny charge per seat?

No. Canny's price depends on tracked users. Free includes five managers, Pro includes ten, and contributors are unlimited on every plan, so adding a teammate does not change the price by itself.

What happens if I go over my tracked-user limit on Canny?

Per Canny's FAQ, without a spend limit you are upgraded to the next tier and charged a prorated amount. With a monthly spend limit, Canny stops tracking feedback from new users once you reach it.

What does Canny Business cost?

Canny does not publish a Business price. The pricing page shows Custom, billed yearly, for five thousand or more tracked users with SSO and invoice payment.

Can I move from Canny to a pay-once board?

Yes, within limits. Our importer reads Canny's CSV or JSON export and shows a preview before saving anything. Voters, authors and images are not imported, and votes come over as an earlier-votes count.
