Kanban boards · updated October 10, 2026

A Trello alternative you pay for once

Trello's free plan is good, and we won't pretend otherwise. You get unlimited cards, up to 10 boards per Workspace, mobile apps, built-in automation and Power-Ups, with up to 10 collaborators. If that covers you, stay on Free: it costs nothing and we can't beat that price.

This page is for people who outgrew Free and now pay for Standard, which is $5 per user per month on annual billing or $6 if you pay month to month. GuavaTeam is a kanban board that costs $20 once. Below you'll find Trello's prices with their source, the math over several years, what GuavaTeam actually does, and a plain list of what Trello does better.

GuavaTeam is a good fit if

  • You pay for Trello Standard mostly to lift the 10-board limit of the Free plan
  • You use boards, lists, cards, labels, checklists, due dates and comments, and little else
  • You share a board with a few people by email, some as editors and some as read-only viewers
  • You'd rather pay $20 once than add another per-user subscription

Stay on Trello if

  • You are happy on Trello Free: it costs nothing, and GuavaTeam can't undercut zero
  • You need the iOS or Android apps, or reminders and email notifications when a card is due
  • You rely on Butler automation, Power-Ups and integrations with Slack, Google Drive or similar tools
  • You work in calendar, timeline or table views, or need admin and security controls

The math over 1, 3 and 5 years

Standard is the cheapest paid Trello plan and the one you need once Free's 10-board limit bites. We compare it at the annual price for one seat, $5 a month. Trello charges per user, so each extra person adds $5 a month on top.

Where Trello is better

Mobile apps and desktop app

Trello has iOS and Android apps and a desktop app on every plan, including Free. GuavaTeam is used in the browser only and has no mobile apps. If you move cards from your phone on the train, that settles it.

Quick capture and notifications

Trello's own pricing page lists due dates and assignees on every plan and an Inbox for to-dos captured from email, Slack and Teams. GuavaTeam has an in-app bell for @mentions in comments, and nothing else: no due-date reminders and no emails. A card can sit overdue without telling you.

Automation and Power-Ups

Trello ships built-in Butler automation, 250 command runs a month on Free and 1,000 on Standard, and lists 200+ Power-Ups for Slack, Google Drive, Salesforce and more. GuavaTeam has no automation rules and no integrations of any kind.

Views and bigger setups

Calendar, Timeline, Table, Dashboard and Map views are part of Trello Premium, and Enterprise adds SSO and organization-wide permissions. GuavaTeam shows boards as kanban lists only, and its sharing is just viewer or editor per board.

Maturity

Trello has been around for years, has a huge template community and a lot of edge cases already handled. GuavaTeam is a much smaller product, and you should expect fewer polish details.

What a Trello Standard seat costs over time

On annual billing, Trello Standard is $5 per user per month, so one person pays $60 a year. Month to month it is $6, or $72 a year. Over three years, one seat on annual billing is $180, and over five years it is $300. GuavaTeam is $20 once, so for one person it costs less than four months of Standard.

The gap grows with seats, because Trello charges per user. Three people on Standard pay $15 a month on annual billing, which is $180 a year. We won't claim a flat saving for your group, since it depends on who is on the plan and who just needs to look at a board. Count the people who actually pay for a seat today, multiply by $60, and compare.

GuavaTeam is also in the F*ckSubscription bundle, $49 regular for every app. That only matters if you'd use the others as well.

What you get with GuavaTeam

You create boards from a dashboard, where you can star, search, sort and delete them. Each board holds lists and cards that you add, rename, reorder, archive, restore or delete. Drag-and-drop moves lists and cards around, and the position is saved to the database, so the board looks the same when you come back.

A card opens into a detail dialog with an editable title and description. You can attach colored labels that you create per board, assign board members, set a due date, add checklists with checkable items and see progress counts on the card. You can upload files up to 10 MB to a card, and leave comments with @mentions that update live.

Boards can be shared by email: you invite someone as an editor, or as a viewer who can read and comment, and you manage or remove members later. There is also an optional public read-only link. Lists and cards update live for other people on the same board, so nobody has to refresh.

Boards can have a color, gradient, pattern or uploaded image as a background. There are 4 starter templates (project management, software development, marketing campaign and product launch), a Cmd/Ctrl+K search across your boards, cards and comments, and an analytics page with board and card counts, completion rate and overdue cards.

Where Free is the right answer

Most Trello users never pay. Free allows up to 10 boards per Workspace and up to 10 collaborators, which is plenty for a personal to-do board, a small side project or a class. If you sit comfortably under those limits and use the mobile app, there is no reason to switch to us or to anyone.

The case for GuavaTeam is narrow and specific. You hit the board cap, or you added a few collaborators, and Trello asked you to pay per user. At that point you were buying unlimited boards and some card extras, and you may not use the extras. If the board list is what you were paying for and the missing pieces above don't hurt, $20 once is a fair trade.

If you are unsure, the check is easy. Look at what you used in Trello over the last month: mobile app, due-date notifications, Butler rules, Power-Ups, Calendar view. Each one you rely on is something GuavaTeam does not have today.

Moving over

Importing from Trello isn't something we list, so a move means recreating your boards, which is quick for a few boards and tedious for fifty. The starter templates give you a skeleton to begin from, and you can keep Trello running until the new boards feel right. Our refund policy covers 14 days, which gives you time to try it on real work before the decision is final.

FAQ

Is GuavaTeam really a replacement for Trello Free?

No. Trello Free costs nothing and includes mobile apps, automation and Power-Ups. This page is for people paying for Standard who mostly need boards, lists, cards, labels, checklists, due dates and comments.

Does GuavaTeam send reminders or email notifications?

No. It has an in-app notification bell for @mentions in comments. It does not send due-date reminders or emails, so if you rely on those, Trello is the better choice.

Is there a mobile app?

No. GuavaTeam has no iOS or Android app. Trello has both, on every plan including Free.

Can I share a board with other people?

Yes. You invite people by email as editors, or as viewers who can read and comment. You can also turn on an optional public read-only link for a board.

What does 'lifetime' mean here?

It means for as long as we run the app. If we ever shut an app down, you get 30 days' notice and an export of your data. There is also a 14-day full refund. Prices on this page come from Trello's own pricing page, checked on 2026-10-04.

Can I be charged again if I forget to cancel?

No. GuavaTeam is one payment of $20, not a subscription, so there is no renewal date and no per-user bill that grows when you invite someone. Trello's paid plans are billed per user, monthly or yearly, until you cancel them. If GuavaTeam doesn't fit, there is a 14-day full refund.
