An Acuity Scheduling alternative for simple one-on-one bookings

Acuity Scheduling, owned by Squarespace, has no free plan. After a 7-day trial the cheapest option, Starter, is $16 a month billed yearly or $20 month to month. That's $192 a year before you've booked a single client.

PeachCalendar is a $30 one-time booking app for people whose needs are simpler than what Acuity is built for. This page lays out Acuity's current prices with a link to the source, the cost over five years, and, importantly, the long list of things Acuity can do that PeachCalendar can't.

PeachCalendar is a good fit if

  • You're one person offering calls or sessions and don't need client intake forms
  • Your clients pay you separately (invoice, bank transfer, platform) rather than at booking
  • You use Google Calendar and Google Meet day to day
  • You signed up for Acuity for the booking page and use little else

Stay on Acuity Scheduling if

  • You take payments, sell packages, memberships or gift certificates at booking
  • You rely on intake forms, SMS reminders or a waitlist
  • You manage several staff calendars or locations
  • You work in health care and need a HIPAA agreement

The math over 1, 3 and 5 years

Starter is Acuity's entry plan and covers one calendar, like PeachCalendar. We use its yearly-billing rate of $16 a month. Acuity only removes its own branding on Premium ($49 a month), while PeachCalendar lets you hide its badge at no extra cost.

Where Acuity Scheduling is better

Getting paid at booking

Every Acuity plan accepts payments through Stripe, Square, PayPal or Venmo, and Standard adds packages, memberships and gift certificates. PeachCalendar has no payment step at all. For a service business that charges upfront, Acuity is the right tool.

Intake forms and reminders

Acuity includes custom intake forms and email reminders on Starter, then SMS reminders and a waitlist on Standard. PeachCalendar's booking form asks for name, email and an optional note, and sends a confirmation but no reminders.

Staff, locations and compliance

Acuity scales from 1 to 36 calendars with per-staff availability, offers a HIPAA agreement on Premium, and has a mobile admin app. PeachCalendar is for one person and makes no compliance claims.

More video options

Acuity integrates with Zoom and GoToMeeting as well as Google Meet. PeachCalendar generates Meet links natively; for Zoom you paste your own meeting link.

Acuity is a small-business suite

Acuity is built for salons, therapists, studios and clinics: businesses that take deposits, sell session packs, send intake questionnaires and juggle several staff calendars. For them, $16 to $49 a month is reasonable, because Acuity replaces a receptionist's worth of admin.

Plenty of people sign up for something much smaller. A consultant who needs a page where clients can grab a slot, a tutor with a weekly schedule, a creator offering 30-minute calls. They pay the same subscription and use a fraction of it. PeachCalendar is aimed at that group, and only that group.

What PeachCalendar does

You create as many event types as you like, each 15 to 120 minutes long, with its own location: Google Meet (generated automatically), phone, in person, or a custom link. Weekly availability lives in named schedules, and date exceptions let you close a day or open unusual hours.

Clients book from your public page in their own time zone. The appointment goes straight into your Google Calendar with the client as a guest, and both of you receive an email. If you need to move or cancel it, you do that from your dashboard, and with Google Calendar connected the event there is updated as well. You can style each event type with your own color, image and CSS, hide the badge, and embed the booking page on any website.

Deciding between them

Go through your Acuity setup and note what clients actually touch. If the answer includes payments, intake forms, packages or reminders, stay with Acuity; rebuilding those elsewhere would cost more than the subscription. If clients only pick a time and get a calendar invite, PeachCalendar does that for a one-time $30, less than two months of Acuity Starter.

FAQ
